Syria Goes Gaseous

September 17, 2004 - 11:11 pm - by Roger L Simon

Many have speculated that the famous vanishing Iraqi WMDs were slipped over the border into Syria. Who knows where these came from but WorldNet Daily is reporting that Syria may have tested chemical arms on civilians in the Sudan:

Syria, which has long denied maintaining a chemical or biological weapons arsenal, reportedly tested chemical weapons on civilians in Sudan’s troubled western Darfur region in June, killing dozens of people.

Injuries caused by chemical arms were found on the bodies of the victims, according to unnamed sources quoted by the German daily Die Welt newspaper and witnesses who talked with the Arab news ILAF last month.

What next for the poor people of Darfur? (hat tip:Wichita Boy)

    Here we go again.

Are these people stupid? Do they want us to put a wall around the Arab world? But they, they have been reading our press and they seem to feel they are holding all the cards.

I think the weapons went to Syria or Lebanon and now they are testing them on black people. What do they have to fear? Nobody will stop them. Not the EU. Not the UN. And if Kerry wins certainly not the US, after all we can be defeated by car bombings and kidnappings and endless introspection over what we did right and wrong and how the world feels about us and if we can get more assistance etc.

meanwhilie the Syrians go about their business gassing people.

  2. There’s some very interesting background here. Back in April, terrorists were caught bringing a big cache of chemical weapons across the Syrian border into Jordan. A massive chemical attack on Amman was thwarted. Also in April, rumors emerged that Sudanese President Bashir ordered Syria to remove the medium-range ballistic missiles that that country had flown into Khartoum. That story remains, as far as I know, unconfirmed, but the Jordan story is God’s own truth.

Syria seems to have a close relationship with chemical weapons, ballistic missiles and Sudan, making this story not-entirely-crazy-sounding.

There’s more, too. I have a summary on my site.
