Was the Top Iranian Rev Guards Commander Killed in Damascus?
I’m checking it, but there is a report that says so:
Reports in the Arab-language press indicate the head of Iran’s covert foreign operations Quds force was killed in Wednesday’s bombing in Damascus.
Al-Quds Force’s long-elusive commander, Maj. Gen. Qassem Suleimani, is reported to have made several trips to Damascua to meet with Assad and his top commanders since January of this year.
Iran has made no bones about having bolstered Assad’s embattled regime with members of its own elite Revolutionary Guard, but the death of Suleimani would be a direct blow to Tehran.
General Suleimani has, or perhaps had, an awful lot of blood on his murderous hands. From the 1990s bombings in Argentina to the Iranian operations against American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, to hand-in-mailed-glove coordination with Hezbollah in various killings, his name should be at or near the very top of any Western “most wanted” list of mass murderers. The assassination of Suleimani would be comparable to the murder of Imad Mughniyah, the Hezbollah chief of operations who was intimately involved with the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, the Guards’ foreign legion commanded by Suleimani. His death at the hands of a suicide bomber would be ironically appropriate, and a religious commentator might well term it Divine retribution. It would also be a devastating blow to the Iranian regime, as well as to Hezbollah. I don’t think we’ve heard the full list of victims yet. There could be others of his ilk. So stay tuned.

This guy, plus the defense minister and Assad’s brother-in-law? I realize it’s not the Secret Service protecting the President, but for opposition forces to penetrate this deeply into Assad’s regime is telling.
The best way to get Iranian revolutionary scum is to offer them the Nobel Peace Prize. They could be nabbed in Oslo after they pick up the prize
Could just work.
After all, awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to terrorists isn’t unusual enough to arouse suspicions, is it?
Given the precedents of Messrs Gore and Obama, who knows?
Revolutionary Pimps are PIMPS. The Iranian Revolutinary Guards are not soldiers, they are pimps, drug dealers, theives and murderers. Since when are soldiers involved in business activities both legitimate and in the case of the Revolutionary Pimps, illegitimate? The Revoltionary Pimps couldn’t do jack against Saddams third class army. Iranians out there…..DO YOU REMEMBER? Saddam almost owned you? Thanks to the dirty mullahs and their PIMPS!
The Iranian people are watching what is happening in Syria with great interest indeed. Imagine if Iranans start doing flash protests like what has been going on in Syria. A few dozen or a hundred have a flash protest and then disappear into the crowd. Or how about Iranians adopting the flag of the Lion and the Sun instead of the present flag which is irrelevant to the Iranian nation?(no offense to Allah Akback of course).
It is a matter of time. I am looking forward to hearing about Bashar, Mahar and their Shabiha pimps going into the next world. Oh and what happened to the “resistance” in Palestine? Well, the Palestinian refugees living in Syria have sided with the FSA because Assad’s thugs have been murdering them in their camps. Oh well so much for Arab/Muslim solidarity!
The problem is “Who are the other side of the War”?
We don’t know anything about them.
Are they financed by the Saudis?
Is there a link with the Sunni in exile from Iraq (ex-Saddamites)?
How al-Qaeda is connected there?
Who will control Syria when Bashir is gone and the Baahatists Alawi Regime is overthrow?
What will happen to the Alawite and to the Christians (and other minorities) when the Sunni majority will rule the country?
yes, there are many apparently unanswered questions. quite right.
As Syrian dissident and an dissident from that tragic region, I think nothing in Syria is certain!!!? but the other side of the War I think are those who support Assad regime “Iranians, Russians, and China”…as well as there is a big hand by Saudis in this battle, their ideological and religious commitment to support the Sunnis (terrorists) does not allow them to get away from this fight. But the question here is about (the Syrian rebels so-called the Free Syrian Army) whether is good for “Syria, Israel and America” after Al-Assad, or whether they can be trusted, or whether they will harbor the extremists of Islamists and nationalists!!!???
One point to quibble about Michael. You wrote, “the murder of Imad Mughniyah”.
It isn’t murder to execute those with blood on their hands.
another example of the sort of pedantry up with which I cannot put…
Thank you Michael for these very important information. Indeed it’s a great and happy day when we get rid of these wicked leaders. Yes, Gen. Qassem Suleimani was the most influential figure in Iran’s policy in regard to Iraq, Lebanon, Gaza and Afghanistan. So this information should be more important for American and Israeli than to Iranian or Arab who aspires to freedom, because Gen. Qassem Suleimani was the major commander who oversees the Iranian support for the terrorist groups that murder Israelis and Americans in the region.
The death of Gen. Suleimani would be a very painful blow to Mullahs’s regime because he was one of the very important pillars in the bloody regime in Tehran, but doubtless they do not want to talk publicly about this tragic event!?
In Syria, the assassination of top Syrian government officials is a very devastating blow to the Syrian regime, it’s the beginning of the end for Al-Assad’s regime, especially among them relatives of the regime family. The infamous Gen. Asef Shawkat was a big player in the secretive regime cabal. And both thugs “Asef Shawkat and Rami Makhlouf” are considered one of the most powerful men in Syria, where maintains a very close relationship with Al-Assad family. The infamous “Rami Makhlouf” is thought to control as much as 60% of the Syrian economy through his illegal web of business interests. No foreign company can do business in Syria without his consent and partnership.
The kill of the key members of Bashar al Assad’s national security team is proves that the Syria’s rebels of “Free Syrian Army” indeed they are able to reach the heart of the regime.
However, both hollow and paper regimes in “Syria and Iran” are on the verge of collapse, they started bleeding!!!
notice that, unfortunately, the “Arab press” reports on General Suleimani’s death were false. Another day.
As usual, the media in general everywhere is unreliable, they spoke and wrote lies and trumped-up charges against you, especially in the USA.
A few months ago also there were some conflicting reports by Arab Press about the death of Syrian Gen. Asef Shawkat who was killed in this attack that targeted Syria’s National Security headquarters in Damascus.
However, I suspect that report is false about General Suleimani’s death…as you know these regimes CAN ORGANISE the fabricated news. But on the other hand, the terror masters are indeed DIED, just a matter of time!!!?
Mr Ledeen, wasn’t Mughniyah associated with the Marine Barracks bombing in Beirut in the early eighties?
yes, and lots of other horrors.
