Austin, TX, home of SXSW, is known for its live music and its food. The fact is, you’d have to work pretty hard to find a bad meal in Austin. The people here take pride in being one of the food capitals of America. The weary SXSWer may have a hard time sorting the great places from the merely good, though, so as a local, I’m here to help out.

10. Pluckers Wing Bar.

Locations: All over town.

This chain of wing stops was started by some UT students. Pluckers isn’t fancy but it’s local and good, and has restaurants all over town.

Noble Pig is now "Noble Sandwich Company", and they've both moved to 12233 620n, Ste 105, and opened a shop on Burnet.

Whole Foods - it's the whole block on Lamar between 5th and 6th. A mere stumble away from Huts, and has pretty good barbecue for a health food store. That is, if you can make it past the soup counter to find it.

I miss Dot's Place. There's no way to describe this hole in the wall, ramshackle fire-trap, other than to say you had to be there before 11:30, and if you left hungry, it's your own damn fault. Sadly, it's been leveled, and she's passed away. Many a fine afternoon cubicle nap was fueled by a trip to Dot's.
