Time for MSNBC to Fire Al Sharpton!

A recent 15-minute web documentary on the Tawana Brawley hoax reminds why activists have no business hosting TV news shows.

Al Sharpton 1988

Do you remember Tawana Brawley? If not, you must go and watch the video co-produced by RetroReport and the New York Times.  The Times starts by giving us a wrap-up of the case:

The news reports at the time, in the late 1980s, were horrific. Tawana Brawley, a 15-year-old African-American girl from New York State, was said to have been abducted and repeatedly raped by six white men. She was found with “KKK” written across her chest, a racial epithet on her stomach and her hair smeared with feces. She was so traumatized, according to reports, that at the hospital she answered yes-or-no questions by blinking her eyes. Making the crime even more vile, if that were possible, she and her lawyers later claimed that two of the rapists were law enforcement officials.

Enter a relatively unknown (at the time) African-American activist named Reverend Al Sharpton. Rushing to get in touch with young Tawana, Reverend Al became her mentor, spokesman, and leader of the mass protests demanding justice for Brawley, the victim of an apparent white racist attack. In the process, Sharpton accused the police officer — who Sharpton said had actually attacked  her — along with the assistant district attorney who prosecuted the case, Steven Pagones. “The evidence,” Sharpton said, proved that “an assistant district attorney and a state trooper did this.” Sharpton led mass picket lines at New York state offices, which I recall at times included the always gullible folk singer Pete Seeger.

We all know the outcome, although with this new short documentary, a new generation may be hearing about it for the first time. The Times notes: “After seven months, 6,000 pages of testimony and 180 witnesses, a grand jury found Ms. Brawley’s story to be a lie. Neither the police officer nor the district attorney accused by Ms. Brawley and Mr. Sharpton had been involved in any way, the report concluded.”  It was too late for Officer Harry Crist Jr., who committed suicide because of the false accusations made against him, or for Assistant DA Pagones, whose career was ruined and whose reputation was smeared.

Writing today at The Daily Beast, Stuart Stevens calls it  a “shocking reminder of the toxic mix racial exploitation and personal ambition can produce.” It should be, he writes, “required viewing for the NBC News executives who are heavily invested in rehabilitating a key culprit of this loathsome episode: the Rev. Al Sharpton.” Stevens is correct, and let me put it more boldly: It is time for MSNBC and its parent, NBC News, to fire Rev. Al Sharpton.

A moment of silence for those poor fellows from the Duke Lacrosse rape case--I'm sure all the Duke Prof's who signed a statement of their guilt will comply.

And another moment for The Claremont Colleges, which had to defend itself against that false claim by a Black woman whose car was besmeared with racial epitath--written by her own hand.

Now, let's give a full 2 minutes for Mr. Zimmermann who must suffer through the Treyvon Martin "execution" (who, BTW, looks like Big O's son, were he to have one).

The list of bogus racial crimes goes on—oh, and it isn’t a racial crime if it’s Black, Brown, etc., on White.

And don't even start on all the false claims of Muslim bashing. All this is projection, nothing more.

When Sharpton appeared on the stage as a presidential contender I realized that American politics had scraped the bottom of the barrel. And the main stream media just played along like the brainless twits they are.

It's not a case of the end justifying the means, but the identity. Black people in America commonly say they are incapable of racism, and have developed bizarre jargon and theories to back it up.

Generally speaking, the Left believes white, straight, men to be at the bottom of a well of immorality. To be a non-white, woman, or gay, is to be automatically conferred a certain innocence.

Once you understand that simply fact, all else will flow. You will not only understand what is happening on every single occasion, you will be able to predict the Left. That is what Sharpton does - he manipulates these feelings.

People like Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow never met a gay or black person they didn't like or consider endemically innocent, if not a true font of wisdom.

It's simply a reversed out version of hate speech and profiling, the very thing the Left cries about the most.

Look, this scares me. That a murderous anti-Semitic pogrom artist can become a respected power in the Democratic party and get a show on its network should chill the bones of every American Jew and every decent American. Recall that the Republicans read David Duke out of the party.

Firstly, I don't care what party it is; this is scary.
Secondly, yes, there is a heck of a lot more than a dime's difference between the two parties. (And I know which one Ron Paul reminds me of, and it isn't the Republicans.)

I recorded the 6/4 episode of Politics Nation, and (a) Fat Al looks like he's got AIDS, and (b) the thing pizzed me off, even skimming it at 15x. Anyway, the following companies sponsored the POS:
Nissan USA, ING, Boston Market, Lexus (I've been passively boycotting them my whole life), Expedia.com, GE, various drugs for deadpeckers and athsmatics, Nabisco, Joseph A. Bank, AT&T, E-Trade, V8, Legalzoom.com, Phillips' Colon Health (methinks Al could use a dose or two), Remax, Infinity (see: Lexus), Men's Warehouse, Citi, AllState and Safelite Auto Glass.
Write one email. Tell em you're through with a company that supports a turd like Sharton. Copy and paste. Repeat.

They get corporate American, and Beck and Rush (not to mention Dr. Laura) get boycotted. They almost deserve to have him win; too bad the innocents will also suffer.

It is in fact absolutely critical that Al Sharpton remain on MSNBC. His reputation is perfect for that venue.

Fire Al Sharpton????
Make him CEO; He knows RACISM when he sees it, and he's not afraid to call it out.
And put Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrahkan, Charlie Rangel, Sheila Jackson, Maxine Waters, Alcee Hastings, Frederica Wilson, and Elijah Cummings on the Board of Directors
These guys are as brilliant as Obama, more mature, and experienced.
Absolutely BRILLIANT, I tell ya.
That would be DIVERSITY SQUARED.

MSNBC is not going to fire Al Sharpton. They themselves admitted that they were "not the place to go for breaking news"

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/03/business/media/devoted-to-politics-msnbc-slips-on-breaking-news.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&src=twr&;

and that they were devoted to liberal politics.

They will do, say, falsely accuse, or tell any lie to support the Left. Al Sharpton fits right in. They are a branch of the White House. Sharpton is merely Julius Streicher with a higher melanin content.

Around and about Detroit and environs, we've got D B's like this, in quantity.
They're primarily black but there's some Muslims in this mix as well. Get 'em in front of a camera or a gaggle of what passes for 'reporters' nowadays and the lists of grievances becomes seemingly endless.
No matter the topic or someone supposedly being dissed, wronged or the like, they're always right there,... waiting.
See enough of the same tact repeated over and over again by differing schmucks and miscreants, and you get kinda' jaded, knowwatI'msayin' ?
...and like the youngin' who cried wolf, you, as an adult choose to tune it out and then get called 'uninvolved', 'closet racist', 'A Coward' [see : Eric Holder]and worse.
Detroit and it's adjacent areas are very often labeled "The Most Racially Stratified Area in the country", for very good reasons. Who in their right mind wants to wade in 'that pond' , and get 'schmutz' all over them?

Last week MSNBC president Phil Griffin not only admitted Al Sharpton was illiterate, he bragged that his network had the only illiterate black news anchor in America. http://www.thedailyrash.com/al-sharpton-americas-first-illiterate-news-anchor
