Idaho Mom Describes How School Groomed Her Daughter to Be Trans

In yet another example of why parents should homeschool their kids or be able to pick who educates their kids for them, a kindergarten teacher named Shelia Bucher recently spoke about how her daughter Anne (a pseudonym) was groomed into transitioning by her public school and the resulting horror that came with it. The girl attempted suicide eight times.

Bucher sat with the Idaho Tribune to tell her story, describing how she raised her adopted daughter Anne, born to drug addicts, according to the family's faith. It all went downhill when Mrs. Bucher let Anne attend Lakes Middle School in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to let her make new friends after COVID. (The fact that what you're about to hear happened in Idaho, of all places, just demonstrates the reach of this movement).

According to Mrs. Bucher, Anne started using a different name, "Felix," and pronouns at school, which the school staff asked her to approve. When Bucher refused, a rift developed between her and Anne. And it just got worse from there.

Anne started identifying as a furry, asked her mother for a chest binder, and began engaging in self-harm, cutting to the point of giving herself a Glasgow grin like Heath Ledger's Joker in "The Dark Knight." She even posted it on social media.

Bucher said part of the blame lay in a group of friends, similar girls who wanted to transition into boys, whom Anne befriended, and who also taught her how to cut. She also described how the school was covered in pride flags, and that she heard it was working on a new bathroom for "non-binary" students.

More deviously, the school counselor, Jennifer Zaike, was affirming Anne's "Felix" identity and took her side against Bucher whenever she voiced concerns.

When Anne was admitted for her cutting to North Idaho Behavioral Health (now the Youth Acute Unit), the doctors asked what name and pronouns she wanted to go by. She told them she wanted to be Felix, further exacerbating the problem.

When Bucher finally pulled Anne out of Lakes Middle School, she could not collect her daughter's school records because they were no longer at the facility. When she tried to talk to the counselor, Jennifer Zaike, Zaike all but blamed Bucher for Anne's problems because she was not affirming her "Felix" persona.

If it is any consolation, according to Bucher, Anne is now in a different long-term care facility and recovering. Still, this story is just one of many we have heard from around the country, even in states as red as Idaho, and not all of them have happy endings.

Thankfully, more and more people are fighting back against the insanity, as we at PJ Media and the rest of the Townhall Media gang continue to cover. Just last week, I wrote about a young detransitioner named Emily Schmidt. Schmidt spoke against transgender propaganda at a meeting for the Conroe Independent School District in Texas. There, she described her experience, similar to Anne's, of being groomed into identifying as a boy at school and her resulting suicidal ideation.

Schmidt ended her address by asking, "Why do you want to teach children that their bodies are wrong? Why do you want to teach children that self-hatred is good? Why do you want to teach children that they need to chop off healthy body parts in order to find true happiness? Why did people like you tell me as a little girl that I needed to self-harm in order to be truly happy?"
