The cost of living where he is is likely relatively low, too.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for this guy?

I grew up in a steel town, with union AND non-union factory workers with the same mentality. They spent all their bloated salaries on boats, man caves, trips -- because their giant pensions would cover them when they got old.

Then the factory closes down. Ooops.

The central tenant of Liberalism used to be championing the workers and families of Appalachian coal country, alleviating their plight.

Now their central tenant is causing their plight.

Ask most Progressives about Appalachia and their response will usually include the words "ignorant", "racist", "homophobe", and "redneck". In the urban Progressive eyes, they aren't worth helping.
