“Stephen Colbert Drops His Own ‘Two Minutes of Hate’ on Palin,” John Nolte writes at Big Hollywood, along with video:
This is how it works. First, the media and people like Jon Stewart demand that we on the Right disarm by laying down our right to free speech within their New Rules. But as you can see in the video above, the left has no intention of doing the same. So as they beat us up for using terms like “job killing,” guys like Colbert whip out the old ad hominem – the very same kind of language Jon Stewart supposedly crafted an entire anti-Glenn Beck rally around because it wounds him so.
AdvertisementAnd please stop being “amazed” by the Left’s double standard. It’s not a double standard, it’s a political tactic. The whole idea is to catch us off guard with their breathtaking indecency and hypocrisy because when we’re caught off guard, we can’t fight back. The media’s and the Left’s behavior this past week will feel like the good old days come 2012. This is all pre-season. The media’s merely warming up, testing our defenses, taking note of our strengths and weaknesses, all in preparation for the big game.
If you’re amazed now, just wait a year. But if you’re amazed you’re also not fighting. Join Twitter and Facebook instead. Those are two tools these people can’t control, a conversation between friends that actually can get the shoes of the truth out there before the lies spread around the world.
The Orwellian aspects of this, as alluded to in John’s title, were explored extensively by Richard Fernandez the other day after CNN’s weird crosshairs kerfuffle; don’t miss his take on the latest salvo in the left’s war on free speech.

Altering a quote often attributed to Voltaire sums up the beast:
“I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend my right to twist, mock, and otherwise lie about it until it suits me.”
As Nolte mentions, this is merely pre-season. The Left is, if nothing else, thoroughly ruthless. More than a touch of that — minus their trademark mendacity — will be required on our part if they are to be completely defeated in 2012.
The best way to counter their garbage is to meet them head on. The best candidate to do just that is inherently obvious — the one that they fear the most. “Safe” picks are for losers and losing is not an option.
They want a safe passage for Obama to complete the dismantling of the America that they, and he, despise. They want to prep the battlefield (violent rhetoric alert! Earmuffs, John King, earmuffs!), they want to silence their “enemies”, namely the pluckiest one, the one most unafraid of their bulls**t.
It’s my hope that the one challenger whose microphone the Left would most like to silence will not “sit down and shut up”, but will in fact turn it up to 11.
The “new tone” is a ruse, a gambit, a lie. And here is how it should be dealt with:

Isn’t that the truth!!!
Unfortunately, and lucky for us, this total bs doesn’t quite work as it use to. Let’s just hope, we continue to wise up about these Alinski tactics, and use it on them.
Ridicule also always works, because the left has NO sense of humor, only sinister, and dark foam exiting their mouth, devoid of any sense of responsibility, and civility.
The bad news is the MSM doesn’t even pretend to be impartial anymore. Back in the 1980s and before, they used to have to hide their biases and were (more) reluctant to appear to be favoring the Left. Remember the episode of the old Mary Tyler Moore show where producer Lou Grant excoriated hapless anchorman Ted Baxter for announcing his support for a mayoral candidate on the news? “Unprofessional!”, Lou screamed. Those days are gone. They’re all Ted Baxter now, and proud of it.
Worse — they’re all the real-life Ed Asner.
I wonder if there is ‘An Emperors New Clothes’ element to this.
It may be as simple as conservatives across the board forthrightly declaring that “We don’t CARE one damn bit what is being said about us” by any given person. We are true to ourselves and what we stand for, and that is that.
I guess we do have to attack the attackers, or lose the battle, but what we can do when doing so is simply make certain that any and all responses are determined by ourselves and not defined by the attacker.
To the charge “You are racist!” we answer NOT with “No I’m not, here’s why”… but rather with “What is it that makes you think I give a tin Shi’ite what your opinion of me is?”
Start doing this enough and across the board, and all of a sudden the Matthews and Stewarts and Colberts of the world will wake up and realize that they are talking to themselves and their own groupies, and hey, have fun, whatever…. but we on the right have work to do, so you guys go do your thing, whatever it may be.
Probably easier said than done, but still…..
