The More Things Change

October 3, 2009 - 10:26 am - by Ed Driscoll

Prominent British newspaper runs story about mad, totalitarian leader bent on destroying his neighboring nations who isn’t quite as ethnically pure as he first promoted himself. Is this a story from 1939 about Adolf Hitler? Or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009? The Telegraph claims the latter:

A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots.

A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian – a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver.

The short note scrawled on the card suggests his family changed its name to Ahmadinejad when they converted to embrace Islam after his birth.

Is it true? Who knows but hopefully such a story won’t make the mullahs happy either way.

Meanwhile, in yet another example of this decade’s recurring theme of Neville Again, the appeasement efforts of modern day Chamberlains continues apace.

  1. I’m torn. On one hand, I want to adhere to principle, take the high road, and say that the fact that Immadinnerjacket was once Jewish is of no political consequence. It’s something for the psychologists to mull over, but otherwise a footnote in the life of this mad man. On the other hand, I’m tempted to play into the idea of a mass Jewish conspiracy and try to convince the Iranian hardliners that he’s actually a Jewish sleeper agent, and should be dealt with post haste.
