    I noted one qoute,

“Probably if a crucifix had been placed in my lecture hall, I might have felt more strongly about it not being in my lecture hall.”

well, isn’t it the university’s lecture hall?

I saw in the comments of my home town paper that the most outraged and easily offended are the first to charge intolerance, and the most likely to practice it.

The all-out assault on freedom of expression and the culture of the United States is and has been in full swing for some time now. This, of course, is nothing new. It’s as old as time, and without fundamental changes our nation will revert to what has almost always been: micro-management of the many by the few. It is cold comfort to mention that it’s our own fault. Perpetuation of our inspired governmental system requires beliefs and practices that seem to be no longer valued or insisted upon. Friendships, and successful governmental forms require a lot of work, and we haven’t done enough of what’s required.
