UPDATE 7:24 p.m. EST: In a Twitter video on Friday, Dwayne Johnson claimed the “snowflake” interview with the UK Daily Star, which was widely reported, never happened.
“Today online an interview dropped with me,” The Rock said. “Apparently, it was with me, where I was insulting and criticizing millennials. The interview never took place. Never happened. Never said any of those words. Completely untrue. 100% fabricated. I was quite baffled when I woke up this morning.”

It’s hard to read any new Dwayne Johnson interview without this nagging thought.
Is this what he really thinks, or is it part of a possible presidential campaign?
The hulking actor teased such a run in recent months. He’s not gearing up for 2020, but the 46-year-old superstar could parlay his looks, fame, and charisma into a political run down the not-so-short road.
President Rock? Anything is possible after a reality show star became the most powerful man in the world. Johnson’s latest interview certainly brought that possibility to mind.
Did the former WWE wrestler weigh in on immigration, the government shutdown, or other hot-button issues? No. He simply spoke a truth too many politicians fear to admit.
This Snowflake Generation is a stain on the country.
Johnson didn’t put it that bluntly, but he came pretty close. Here he is talking to UK’s Daily Star about cultural progress, freedom, and more.
“So many good people fought for freedom and equality – but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.
“If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended – and that is not what so many great men and women fought for…”
We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years,” said the 46-year-old beefcake.
“People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want.
“That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.”
He’s right, of course. You still won’t hear Beto O’Rourke, Kamala Harris, or any other 2020 presidential hopeful say such things.
One person would, though. President Donald Trump. Why, Johnson’s words could be taken straight out of a Trump rally speech. Was that an accident? Is Johnson sneaking some of Trump’s populism into his interviews?
Naturally, some hard-left outlets like The A.V. Club quickly attacked Johnson. Why, it’s almost like the actor struck a nerve. The progressive outlet, which can’t wait to pounce on Adam Carolla’s “No Safe Spaces” movie for defending free speech, is at it again.
The site slammed Johnson’s interview as “Fox News rhetoric,” its reportage dripping with disdain.
Still, Johnson’s interview echoes the rhetoric that helped President Trump connect with millions of Americans. Many are exhausted by PC limitations. Maybe on some instinctual level Johnson gets that. Or, he’s just a fan of common sense and realizes the horror of clamping down on free expression.
Either way, it’s a win-win interview the erstwhile Rock is cooking.
