BREAKING: Egypt’s Army Threatens Intervention, Gives 48 Hours

July 1st, 2013 - 3:01 pm

(To be updated as details arrive)

Egyptian television has just broadcast a statement by the armed forces: if the current turmoil is not resolved within 48 hours, the armed forces will have to announce a new “roadmap” for the future, and will enforce new measures that would include all factions.

This is either a warning that everyone better get off the streets, or an actual coup threat to remove the government.

Obama, the spectacularly incompetent, is advising Morsi to do what Obama has never ever done in his political career and that is to listen to the opposition, and be open to his opponents (that is so rich coming from Obama who knows only how to demonize people who disagree with him and treats fellow Americans as his "enemies").

The latest- www.egyptindependent.com/news/egypt-armed-forces-arrest-brotherhood-leader-s-guards-sources. 15 bodyguards arrested in a firefight-they belonged to Senior Muslim Brotherhood Leader Khairat el-Shater .Reason for arrests - guards'unlawful possession of firearms. Morsy ;s children are American citizens- perhaps Morsy will seek 'refugee status' ahead of the line of Syrian refugees Pres.Obama's allotment.

Shoot into 17 million people? Neither Hitler nor Stalin nor Mao could accomplish that feat.

It would be nice to see Morsi hung upside down like his beloved role model Benito M of Italy, or tried in a cage like fellow Muslim Saddam (remember him? poor guy).

Watch live here!

Hoards of protesters are gathering in Cairo’s Tahrir Square to participate in an anti-government rally which enters its second day. The protests turned violent overnight Sunday, with at least 16 people killed and over 600 injured. The Tamarod movement - the organizers of the protest - earlier released a statement demanding President Morsi step down by Tuesday at 5pm, announcing that otherwise civil disobedience will continue throughout the country.

People are fed up with the likes of Morsi, Assad and others like them ... Allah is losing his appeal along with big government tyranny. I wonder if Obama will throw his "wedding" ring away, now that Allah is demonstrating to the world how weak he really is. Nothing like backing a loser!
Big government intrusion into the lives of people is clearly the cause of Brazil's massive riots but it gets little coverage really ... Obama is gonna have some 'splainin' to do.

Jul 1, 2013 Protests against Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi continued Monday in Tahrir Square and at the headquarters of his Muslim Brotherhood. Protesters stormed and ransacked the Islamic group's building after clashing overnight with Morsi supporters.

I won't hold my breath waiting for Andrew McCarthy to comment on the strength of the secular backlash to the Islamic ways of Morsi. It runs counter to his narrative.

The Egyptian military was "decapitated" by Morsi when he came into power. Morsi installed his guys in positions of leadership in the military. Something is not right.

Yeah, something is not right. It's an embarrassing failure of western journalists, who've been clueless about what's been happening during Morsi's Presidency the entire last year.

How many times have I read that the MB have taken over Egypt and the army has been put on the sidelines and Egyptians are all Shariah crazy and other nonsense one can only roll ones eyes at. Anyone with a brain knew the Egyptian people wouldn't put up with any nonsense from Morsi if he overreached. And now you've proof of it. They're a hell of a lot less scared of Morsi than they were of Mubarak. They didn't throw off one yoke just to wear another and now people know. These Egyptians are dead serious about having a decent gov't. The Egyptians turned to Islamists cuz of their moral position, not religious dogma. Now they know better.

Do you think it's a coincidence this took the West totally by surprise? That's because our journalists report stereotypes like an Arabian Nights Lucille Ball movie rather than the news. And our ambassador must've been nuts to ask the Copts to not protest. The Copts could've stayed home to a man and it would not have made the slightest difference.

The MB are morons. They know how to get elected and little else. Who gives a crap about shariah when you're making 60 bucks a months and a cheap two bedroom apt. is 70?
