Picking Losers – My New Video on Cronyism
October 29th, 2012 - 12:00 pm
So… I recently made a satirical political video under the auspices of my favorite think tank. I was supposed to release it weeks ago, but the think tank objected to what it saw as my overly harsh and personal attacks on President Obama. I was unwilling to change it so now, with the think tank’s permission, I hereby release the video in conjunction with my pals at Madison McQueen but with the think tank’s name removed. What do you think? Too nasty?

too nice….
Certainly not. You just told the truth and they thought it was hell.
Loved it, Andrew! You might want to mention the former Enron adviser that recommended in the NYT that a housing bubble be inflated.
True story.
It’s sxcellent. No I don’t think it’s too nasty. I do think though that you should also make a Spanish version of these videos.
Seems perfectly reasonable to me. What was the hot button: Michelle’s vacations?
Very well done. I don’t see why or what was objectionable.
Best photo of Barney Franks I’ve seen in a long time. Has he had “work” done?
THIS was considered harsh? please.
I don’t see the issue. Was it because you called Nancy Pelosi a crone?
Well put. Needed to be said and not harsh enough.
Klaven-U need a fresh tank of thinkers. Ur old group have their heads in an inappropriate place. When thinking becomes a bad thing then you’ve really tanked. You make me laugh and think. The last time a guy did that I married him 31 years ago.
I enjoyed it. However, having said that, it’s not particularly persuasive to anyone not on the right because of the cheap shots (even if they are spot on).
So it comes down to what do you want to do? Persuade people who might not already think the way you do, or entertain those who do.
Oh and the cheap shots that I thought over the top were the pictures of Obama with Stalin and Michelle’s vacations. Funny but still cheap shots.
Another great work by Klavan. The truth does sometimes hurt but there is no way the truth should ever be labled too harsh on those that use lies to steal other people’s wealth.
Not nasty at all. Just truthfulness. A bit snarky, but true. Great stuff!
Nasty, yes. But you didn’t do (build) that.
It is impossible to be too nasty when speaking of the Dems, Obama, etc.
Rule One of Capitalism:
The successful Capitalist is the worst enemy of Capitalism.
i.e. once they got theirs they try to pull up the ladder so no one else can climb up.
As usual, beautifully done.
But why open with that publicity still of Gloria Allred?
Truth tends to be harsh…
If you had included the idea that it is politicians in general who have this problem, rather than just Democrats, I could show it to my liberal friends.
I’d like us to get past the notion that the “us vs. them” is Repubs v. Demos and get to the real battle – the us vs. them is us (i.e. the citizens of the USA) v. the bureaucrats in the Fed Gov’t.
Pretty easy to point to cronyism from Bush/Cheney towards oil/gas and defense. And, the housing bubble was created/extended/exacerbated by Greenspan/Bernanke at the Fed.
Equal opportunity takedowns – That’s what I’m saying.
Otherwise – awesome as usual!!
You need to find a thinkier think tank, Andrew. This was dead on. =^[.]^=
I enjoyed it, and agreed with the points you made. I did not find it too harsh, but in all candor, I did not find this video as humorous or thought provoking as many of your others.
On a technical note, I found the chroma key lighting and background glitches highly distracting. Only part of my brain was soaking in your words, while the other portion was utterly mesmerized by the the fact that parts of your face and head kept disappearing. As I don’t have much of a brain to begin with, I require all of it to fully appreciate the wonderful things you have to say.
I got it. It was the part where you make zombies look like union members right? That really is too nasty.
