Really, The Warriors poster is what makes Drudge’s work here so brutally endearing. It’s one of the great b-flicks, directed by none other than Walter Hill, from a time when it looked like the end was nigh for New York City. The only thing to beat it for over-the-top NYC urban dystopia was 1981’s Escape from New York.
But then NYC got some decent governance — and an economic, cultural, and public safety renaissance ensued.
Now the Progressives are back in charge of New York, and it’s The Warriors all over again.
