Twenty dead in a Russian nuclear attack submarine accident. Apparently, they choked on fire-suppressing freon gas, although why the gas was released, the Soviets Russians aren’t saying.

There also might have been a Titanic-type situation on the boat. There is usually a crew of about 73 officers and men on Akula-class subs, but there were 208 on board, including naval contractors. Were there enough oxygen masks on board for that many? Given Russian quality and safety controls, that seems doubtful.
