I was supposed to meet Darren Copeland for drinks tonight, but I fell asleep. I mean, I crashed. Woke up for no good reason around midnight, and now I can’t get back to sleep.

So I’m killing time until exhaustion takes over again.

As promised last night, here’s the Somewhere Near Cozumel beach playlist. A little disco, a little funk, a little rock’n’roll, some dance mixes, some New Wave, some oldies, and some stuff I just plain like. And a few others I don’t much care for, but my bride insisted on. And a couple bluesy numbers I snuck in when Melissa wasn’t looking. To make up for it, I included a lot of George Michael to keep her happy.*

The playlist hit 105 songs, and then I ran out of space on the CD. Almost all of it is happy, upbeat, danceable stuff. And with loud enough speakers, maybe some bikini girls will come dance with my hot little bikini girl.

I mean, worse things have happened — I hear that First World War was a real bitch.

*My bride has a blind spot when it comes to George Michael. She knows he’s gay, but insists that he’d be straight for just one night, if only for her. Teenage dreams die hard, if at all.
