Is Dan Rather the best friend George W Bush ever had? Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll suggests that he is. Overnight, Bush gained two points while Kerry lost 1.7.

That’s the first time Bush has cracked 49% since two days after his covention speech, and the lowest Kerry has been since the same date. The 4.6-point difference is also the biggest pro-Bush spread Rasmussen has reported since the poll began. What it looks like from here is, Rather has managed to erase the gains Kerry made against Bush’s convention bounce.
