Local Item

It was Election Day here in Colorado Springs, too, and the results were welcomingly familiar.

Local voters:

Rejected raising property taxes to 8%.
Overwhelmingly rejected a measure to allow local slot machines and grant a near-monopoly gaming license to one company.
Rejected an appeal to let the county keep excess tax revenue.
And approved extra money for extar firefighters.

It’s good to be in the Springs. Now stay out.
