As news broke that the U.S. military had fired missiles into Syria, President Donald Trump condemned the Assad regime’s alleged use of gas “one of the truly egregious crimes,” and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson suggested the administration is considering removing Syrian President Bashar Assad from power.
When asked, “So will you and President Trump organize an international coalition to remove Assad?” Tillerson responded, “Those steps are underway.”
The secretary of State also said, “Assad’s role in the future is uncertain, clearly.”
Trump declared, “We’re going to have a very interesting couple of days.”
“I think what happened in Syria is a disgrace to humanity,” the president said. “He’s there, and I guess he’s running things, so something should happen.”
