Jemma Beale, a UK citizen, has accused 15 men of rape. One of the accused fled the country rather than serve time. Another spent two years in prison because of Beale’s accusations.

Now she’s going to prison, because it turns out all her accusations were bollocks:

A fantasist who made up bogus rape and sex assault claims against 15 men in three years for “attention” has been jailed for 10 years.

The 25-year-old would injure herself and use self-inflicted cuts and bruises against the 15 victims she falsely accused of sex attacks — including one who fled the country with his life in tatters.

She insisted she had been raped or attacked but after a five-week trial at Southwark Crown Court a jury of six men and five women took eight hours and 45 minutes to find her guilty of perjury and perverting the course of justice in July.

Sentencing her today, Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith said: ‘This trial has revealed, what was then not obvious, that you are a very, very convincing liar and you enjoy being seen as a victim.

‘The prosecution described your life as a “construct of bogus victimhood”.’

Shocking, right? I mean, several feminists have told us women’s rape accusations should always be believed, after all.

This is the problem with that line of thinking. Even if Beale is one in a million, our entire legal system is predicated on the idea that it’s better for guilty men to go free than for innocent men to be imprisoned. While we’re not perfect on that score, we try. That’s the goal.

People like Beale make it impossible to take anyone at their word about any crime. She made up lies about 15 men, destroyed lives, and for what? Attention. She wanted victimhood status, and she got it.

Actually, people lie about anything and everything. If no one ever lied, or ever misremembered or misinterpreted events, we wouldn’t need to have trials, would we?

Women like Beale make it harder for true victims to be believed. Meanwhile, actual rape victims are traumatized, and the last thing they need is skepticism. But these 15 men are traumatized, too.
