Self-declared “social commentator” Reza Aslan — famous for arguing in a book that Jesus was essentially a left-wing agitator — no longer has a gig at CNN. The Turner network has parted ways with the liberal activist — pardon me, scholar — after he dubbed President Trump a “piece of sh*t” on Twitter.
Oh my, how scholarly of him.
Aslan undoubtedly thought he would get away with this vulgarity, but that was clearly a mistake. Yesterday Mediaite received this statement from CNN:
CNN has decided to not move forward with production on the acquired series Believer with Reza Aslan (season two). We wish Reza and his production team all the best.
Hilariously, Aslan has responded to his being fired by saying he understands that CNN has to “protect its brand as an unbiased news outlet”:

Note that CNN has been criticized for hating Trump so much that they’d like to see him assassinated:
More than two months ago, in a piece filled with dozens of examples, I laid out exactly how the left-wing cable news network CNN is actively turning Donald Trump into a president who, for the good of the country, must be assassinated. If you read the piece, you will see that throughout the last year, CNN has repeatedly validated violence against Trump and his supporters, declared the president mentally ill, smeared Trump as a virulent racist, and sent out the not-so-subtle message that whoever performs this assassination will be greeted as a hero.
It says everything you need to know about Aslan’s radicalism that he actually thinks that CNN is unbiased (and that he deems it completely normal for a “scholar” to call a president he disagrees with a “piece of sh*t”).
Sadly for Aslan and CNN, I’m here to set the record straight. He wasn’t let go because he’s anti-Trump or because CNN is “unbiased” but because he behaved like a teenager with a potty mouth. That’s all there is to it.
