Indiana Voter Registration Fraud Investigation Expands to 57 Counties

The voter registration fraud investigation in Indiana that started with two counties in August and spread to nine counties earlier this week has now expanded to to a total of 57 counties!

Detectives say the group, the Indiana Voter Registration Project, has been turning in forged voter registration applications. In other words, they have been altering the information of already registered voters — actually changing a voter’s address to an address not associated with the voter — without the voters’ knowledge. The group has no website and is not registered with the Indiana secretary of state’s office. The group’s offices were raided earlier this week as part of the investigation.

Last month, IndyStar reporters visited the IVRP’s “mostly empty office” and a man who identified himself as Karim Aziz of New Jersey declined to answer questions about the group. He told reporters he wasn’t aware of any fraud and gave them a phone number where he said someone could answer their questions.

IndyStar called the number repeatedly, but no one answered, and there was no voicemail.

Later in the afternoon, the group released a statement through spokeswoman Christy Setzer, whose PR firm’s website says she has worked as a Democratic strategist for the presidential campaigns of Al Gore, Howard Dean and Chris Dodd.

“We sincerely hope that no one in a partisan elected position is using their office in an effort to make it harder for the people of Indiana to vote,” Setzer said. “The Indiana Voter Registration Project is a nonpartisan effort to ensure that all Indianans who are eligible to vote can do so. As part of its quality-assurance program, the Indiana Voter Registration Project has reviewed tens of thousands of applications and identified a small handful that may have had incomplete or inaccurate information and, in those instances, we immediately informed the Registrar and asked them to double check those forms for accuracy.”

But Hendricks County Clerk Debbie Hoskins, a Republican, said her office found the suspicious registrations on its own and notified State Police.

Meanwhile, the president of the “dark money” organization “Patriot Majority” said this week that the investigation is just a GOP plot to disenfranchise black people.

Patriot Majority USA President Craig Varoga said:

“After all is said and done, when this partisan investigation finds no wrongdoing by the organization, Connie Lawson and the Indiana State Police will have prevented 45,000 African Americans from voting in this year’s elections. That is why today we reported their outrageous actions to the Department of Justice.”

Varoga (aka “the Campaign Doctor”) is a political operative who is well known in Democrat circles. He has worked on the presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry. He has also been a strategist or consultant in numerous gubernatorial campaigns, including those of Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

The Indy Channel reports that state police “aren’t able to tell at this point how many registered voters may have victims of voter fraud.” They are urging people to make sure they haven’t been affected by voter registration fraud by confirming their registration at indianavoters.in.gov. They say people will not not know their ballot has been tampered with until they go to vote and realize their information has been doctored. If that is the case, they’ll need to cast a provisional ballot. Hoosier voters have to act quickly because the voter registration deadline in Indiana is October 11.

One has to wonder (and worry) how many other crooked Democrat voter registration schemes like this one are operating under the radar in other states throughout the country.
