DOJ Sues Gavin Newsom Over His Laws to Unmask Federal Law Enforcement Officers

The Department of Justice (DOJ) today filed a lawsuit against the state of California, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and California Attorney General Robert Bonta, taking on what the DOJ describes as “their unconstitutional attempt to regulate federal law enforcement officers through the so-called ‘No Secret Police Act’ and ‘No Vigilantes Act.’”

In announcing the litigation, the DOJ said that not only are the laws “illegal attempts to discriminate against and regulate the federal government, but, as alleged in the complaint, the laws threaten the safety of federal officers who have faced an unprecedent wave of harassment, doxxing, and even violence. Threatening officers with prosecution for simply protecting their identities and their families also chills the enforcement of federal law and compromises sensitive law enforcement operations. The danger is acute.”

Extreme left-wing California state senator Scott Wiener, who, at this point, is expected to run for and win Nancy Pelosi’s seat in Congress, authored the No Secret Police Act, which would effectively deny federal law enforcement officers the right to conceal their identities from the bad guys, leaving them and their families vulnerable to doxxing or worse.

The No Vigilantes Act is the California legislature’s attempt to require ICE, Border Patrol, and Homeland Security officers who operate in the state to identify themselves while conducting operations.

"Law enforcement officers risk their lives every day to keep Americans safe, and they do not deserve to be doxed or harassed simply for carrying out their duties," said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. "California’s anti-law enforcement policies discriminate against the federal government and are designed to create risk for our agents. These laws cannot stand."

"Assaults against federal agents have exploded over the last few months, thanks in part to recklessness political rhetoric aiming to delegitimize our brave agents," said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli of the Central District of California. "Unconstitutional laws such as this one further endanger our brave men and women protecting our community. Our immigration enforcement will continue unabated and unhindered by unconstitutional state laws enacted by irresponsible politicians."

As law enforcement officers come under increasing violent attack from leftist extremists, people like Newsom and the entire Democratic Party seem to keep egging them on, encouraging this culture of violence. You’d think it would have stopped when they went too far, but Charlie Kirk’s public execution provided proof that the bloodthirsty left only wants more once they get a taste of it.
