Obama State Department Accuses Israel of Terrorism as Palestinian Terrorists Murder Jews

In the most egregious example of false moral equivalence we’ve seen from the Obama State Department on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict to date, spokesman John Kirby actually accused Israel of perpetrating “acts of terror.”

The comments came during a State Department briefing Wednesday in response to questions about the recent spike of terrorist attacks in Israel.

“I would say certainly individuals on both sides of this divide are – have proven capable of and in our view guilty of acts of terror,” State Department spokesman John Kirby told reporters Wednesday following questions about the increased violence.

Kirby later accused Israel of using “excessive use of force” to combat the rising Palestinian terrorist attacks, which left three Israelis dead and 20 injured in the last few days.

A Jewish congressman is now asking the president to fire Kirby for making the “disgusting and shameful” remarks.

Via the Washington Free Beacon:

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R., N.Y.) demanded that President Obama replace State Department Spokesman John Kirby for accusing Israel of terrorism amid increased terror attacks at the hands of Palestinians there.

“It is absolutely disgusting and shameful that the Obama administration not only refuses to stand strong with our ally in Israel, but actually has the audacity to claim that the Israelis are guilty of terrorism,” Zeldin said in a statement Thursday.

Zeldin, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus, called the remarks “embarrassing.”

“Admiral Kirby’s accusation warrants his immediate removal. He should absolutely not utter one more word on behalf of America’s foreign policy. If Secretary John Kerry refuses to speak out and discipline Mr. Kirby than Secretary Kerry needs to step aside as well,” Zeldin stated.

“Innocent Israelis are being attacked and murdered by terrorists. We must stand with Israel now more than ever.”

Yesterday, before Kirby’s remarks, Rep. Zeldin appeared on Fox Business with Lou Dobbs to talk about the recent violence in Israel and the Obama administration’s response to it.

“It is obviously deeply disturbing to watch the terrorists attack and murder innocent Israelis, but what is even more saddening than that, is watching President Obama’s shameful reluctance to stand alongside Bibi Netanyahu and Israelis in this critical time of need,” he said.
