Comforting: Google To Acquire Satellite Manufacturer

Hasta la vista, privacy.

Google’s ambitions to connect the world is set to launch into the stratosphere. Satellite builder Skybox Imaging announced Tuesday that the search giant, map maker and Project Loon creator has agreed to an acquisition deal worth $500 million. The deal hasn’t closed yet, so additional details are scarce at this point.

OK, I know that privacy is largely an illusion these days, as long as I want to use a smart phone, anyway. Still, there’s something about Google building its own satellites that makes my love/hate relationship with it a smidge more hate-y.

Odds are on the NSA being the first to call and congratulate when the deal closes.
