VIDEO -- CNN's Candy Crowley Tries to Recruit Sen. Rand Paul to the Democrat Party

The same CNN partisan who saved Barack Obama during the presidential debates now asks a Republican senator if he’ll just go ahead and switch parties.

CROWLEY: “Do you see yourself at any point in the future being anything other than politically a member of the Republican party?”
PAUL: “You’re implying a third party or some other party?”
CROWLEY: “Or, if you wanted to become a Democrat. There’s lots of parties out there. Just wondering if you see yourself being anything other than a Republican.”
PAUL: “No, I’ve always been a Republican. And I’m one of those people who’s actually a real lover of the history of the Republican Party. Through the days of abolition through the days of civil rights, the Republican Party just has a really rich history. In our state, I’m really proud of the fact that the ones who overturned Jim Crow in Kentucky were Republicans fighting against an entirely unified Democrat Party. So, I am proud to be a Republican. Can’t imagine being anything else.’

Glenn Beck sees sour Candy’s recruitment drive as a case of strange new respect for Paul, who filibustered the Obama administration on drones but has chosen not to seize the limelight in the shutdown fight. It could be that, could be worry that the Democrats’ great hope for 2016 is 1990s re-tread Hillary Clinton, could be just Crowley being her usual mischievous self.
