Piers Morgan to Lose His Primetime CNN Slot?

Could it be?

Sources tell FTVLive that CNN Boss Jeff Zucker is “actively looking for a replacement for Piers Morgan.”

Morgan signed a one year extension to his contract and as time winds down, Zucker is looking for someone to takeover his time slot.

Word is that Zucker really wants Katie Couric in that slot. Couric should be available soon as many expect this is the last year her talk show “Katie” will be on the air.

Word is that CNN could offer Morgan another role at the network, most likely something outside of prime time and likely in the late night hours.

Morgan, his agent and CNN have been working on his new role or his exit strategy from the network.

Allah notes that among Morgan’s recent achievements is losing viewers during the Navy Yard shooting, a news event of the type that was once CNN’s bread and butter. What exactly is CNN’s calling card now? CNN is losing the ratings race to MSNBC, and both are losing badly to Fox — combined. Morgan’s hiring is one of the most baffling major hires any of the networks have ever made.

It’s still stunning that CNN thought it would be a ratings kill shot to hire a snooty foreigner who had been fired from a previous high-profile job for rank dishonesty, to come here and lecture Americans every night about our laws and politics. Larry King at least had a certain everyman charm. Piers Morgan is insufferable and unwatchable.

And then, Katie Couric? She was at the top of her game in the last century. We are well into this century. Fox has proven itself adept at identifying and growing new talent, like Megyn Kelly, whose new show is set to own cable primetime for the next decade or so. Couric is a reach so far backward it endangers the time-space continuum.
