Guess What: Obama Plans to Go Out Traveling and Campaigning Again

According to the Hill, President Obama plans to go out campaigning again. He’ll be pushing gun control.

President Obama will hit the road to rally Senate support for new gun controls in coming weeks, seeking to frame upcoming votes on an assault weapons ban and universal background checks as tests of political courage for skittish Democrats.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday that Obama would travel the country in the coming weeks to rally support for the proposals, written in the aftermath of the Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting that left 20 children and six educators dead.

“I do anticipate that you will see the president using the power of the bully pulpit, as you describe it, by traveling across the country a little bit and talking about some of these issues,” Earnest said.

Gun violence is actually down, rifles “assault” and otherwise rarely factor into killings, and there is no need for new legislation. The fact is, the Virginia Tech killer passed a background check that, had he ever been arrested for his youthful drug habits, the president would not have passed. More laws are not needed.

If Obama wasn’t planning to campaign to push for gun control, he would hit the road to push some other manufactured issue.  Barack Obama evidently has no patience at all for actually governing. He just can’t wait —  to get out on the lecture circuit.
