West: 'A Bended Knee is Not a Conservative Tradition'

PJ Media’s director of Next Generation programming, former Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), urged the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland this morning to come out swinging and battle back from the 2012 election.

“Last November we did take one on the jaw,” West said. “…We’re defined by how quickly we pull ourselves off the mat and our perseverance.”

The congressman brushed off the notion that conservatives need to change with the times as “a bunch of malarkey.”

“A bended knee is not nor shall it ever be a conservative tradition,” he said, adding that the movement can shape the next generation of “Marco Rubios, Paul Ryans, and Marsha Blackburns.”

“There’s nothing on this green earth than a libel progressive fears more than a black Republican who wants a better life and a smaller government,” said West, promoting “fierce independence held high on the shoulders of compassion.”

“We understand that Constitution was written to control and regulate the government, not the people.”

Under the Obama administration, he said, “we were told that compassion comes not from generosity but from compliance.”

“I’m tied of these insufferable lectures,” West said. “…I’m tired of liberals dividing this country into little groups.”

He called Washington D.C. “60 miles surrounded by reality.”

In that reality, he said, “I see conservatives giving more to charity than liberals even though their paychecks are smaller. …I believe that we are here on this earth to do a little more than crawl through life.”

“I’m a conservative because I believe that real peace comes through the Marine Corps, not the Peace Corps.”
