Obama Gets Booed in Boston, DNC May Cancel Convention-Opening Event (Video Added)

President Obama tried the insult-comic-in-chief routine last night in Boston, tweaking the crowd over a baseball trade.

Being booed was probably the last thing President Barack Obama expected from the crowd at a Symphony Hall fundraiser Monday night, but that happened when the president “thanked” Boston for Kevin Youkilis, who was just traded to the Chicago White Sox.

“I’m just saying, he’s going to have to change the color of his socks,” the president said laughing.

Youkilis was traded from the Red Sox, to Obama’s favorite team on Sunday for infielder Brent Lillibridge and pitcher Zach Stewart.

“I didn’t think I was going to get any boos out of here,” he said. “I should not have brought up baseball, I understand, my mistake, you got to know your crowd.”

Why is the President of the United States wasting time razzing supporters over baseball? Got me. It’s not like the man even knows how to throw a pitch.

Meanwhile in Charlotte, the DNC is floundering over another sport.

Facing a $27 million fundraising deficit, organizers of the Democratic National Convention are considering dropping a kick-off event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Bloomberg reports.

Convention and campaign officials will make a decision later this week on the NASCAR-themed event, after the matter is discussed with President Obama, Bloomberg reported.

A spokesperson for the event told Bloomberg that “the Host Committee is not canceling CarolinaFest.” A Democratic National Convention Committee spokesperson declined to comment.

Democrats will get a $50 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security to fund police for the convention, but security for the Speedway event might not be eligible because it is not officially part of the convention.

You got to know your crowd, right?

Update: Ladies and gentlemen, introducing, for one night only here but playing at a lavish spectacular somewhere every day and night, Barry O, the Insult Comic!
