This Mitt Romney flyer, attacking Rick Perry on Social Security, borders on being totally dishonest. For one thing, it makes no mention of the fact that Romney himself has declared that if Social Security was hatched in the private sector, it would be a criminal enterprise.
The ad looks and reads like a typical Mediscare attack that the average liberal Democrat would run against any Republican. Romney even puts his headlines in a soothing shade of Democrat blue, while Perry’s headlines get an alarming shade of Republican red.
Romney’s use of this particular issue against Perry, in the way he is using it, is doing a lot of damage — to Romney’s own credibility. It makes him look like an unprincipled opportunist.
It makes me wonder, for the second time: Is Mitt Romney confused about which primary he’s running in?
