Terror plot busted in NY

The two men captured are of “North African” descent according to CNN, and at least one of them is a US citizen. One also has an extensive criminal record. They planned to attack a synagogue, but had not chosen an actual target or worked out the details.

“The men bought three or four guns and a hand grenade and that’s when the arrests were made,” according to the source, who asked not to be identified.

The men were arrested on a street on the west side of Manhattan, in a sting that was part of an NYPD undercover operation, the two law enforcement sources said.

The terror threat “was on the radar screen for a few months,” well before al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed May 2 in Pakistan, one of the law enforcement sources said.

“One of the suspects is more of a leader, the other a follower,’ the source added.

The men appear to be lone wolves acting on their own, the law enforcement sources said.

Now, if Bush was still in office and this was a liberal blog, we would be questioning the timing of all this. But neither is true, and the fact is, terrorists want to attack us for reasons quite removed from who is in the White House or anything we as a country have done.
