Osama bin Laden's corpse gets treated according to 'Islamic tradition' (Updates: Fed to the fish?)

If this is true…

A small team of Americans killed bin Laden in a firefight Sunday at a compound in Pakistan, the president said, and took custody of his remains. Americaj [sic] officials said they were being handled in accordance with Islamic tradition. [emphasis mine]

Really? Osama bin Laden was a mass murderer. The personification of evil, he accorded his victims no respect whatsoever, and deserves reciprocation.

Update: Politico has more. As President Obama rightly said during his remarks, bin Laden was not a Muslim leader. He was a mass murderer of Muslims, as well as Christians, Jews and anyone else who stood in the way of his violent visions. Treating his remains “in accordance with Islamic tradition” strikes me as sending the wrong message. We’re saying that he died an honorable Muslim. Is that what we want to tell the world?

Update: Bin Laden may be buried at sea to avoid his grave becoming a shrine of any kind. That makes a great deal of sense.
