Joe Cowan’s Third Way is taking credit for President Obama’s call earlier this week to review regulatory rules that can hurt business. The Third Way, which calls itself “center-left,” is battling with progressives for the ear of the White House.
In a signed email to Third Way supporters, Cowan crowed that they were responsible for the President’s action. The Tatler got a hold of the email. Here are excerpts:

I wanted to send you a quick note on an announcement today by the President that has a direct relationship to Third Way’s pro-growth economic work….
This idea was contained in a memo that Third Way sent to the President on November 22nd, 2010 – and both the memo and the specific policy proposal flowed from our October Board meeting with Austan Goolsbee.
