Barbour continues to win at the RNC

Good news for Haley Barbour.  An inside-the-Beltway Tatler source has confirmed that two close pals of the Mississippi governor and presidential hopeful have been tapped by incoming Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus to head up his transition team.

The word out is that Nick Ayers, who ran the Republican Governors Association for the last four years, will enter as chief of staff for Priebus.  Ayers and Barbour are reportedly close, which could aid the governor’s run for the White House in 2012. What is not so publicly known is that Ayers also is the nephew-in-law of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.    And who says the family is in decline?

Also joining the transition team is political pro and former Bush II White House counselor Ed Gillespie.

Low key Priebus, who last November won smashing victories in Wisconsin as that state’s Republican Party chair, obviously wants no-nonsense veterans who can breath life into the RNC.
