IMRA reports via the JTA that President Obama had a pleasant conversation this week with American rabbis ahead of the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot. During the conversation he expressed his desire to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he arrives in town next month for the United Nations’ General Assembly opening. Indicating that he is up to date on his New York Times reading, Obama not only threw the Bibi reference into the conversation, he also chatted about the Iran deal. Because, of course, when it comes to negotiating with terror states bent on Israeli and American destruction, it’s really all about the Jews.
As if schmoozing Jewish-American leadership for Iran deal approval hasn’t been enough, check out this creepy line from the report:
The Iran deal was the main focus of the call, which rabbis use to help plan their High Holidays sermons.
I guess “separation of church and state” is only trumpeted in a Christian context. Over 500 rabbis from “across the denominational spectrum” received directives from on high participated in this phone call.
Lest he’s perceived as not being religious enough for the occasion, Obama didn’t hesitate to get spiritual with his politics. Pulling out those big, brass, clanging tablets he first displayed at the tail end of the Spring High Holidays,
Obama said he would stand by Israel on matters of security, but called on U.S. Jews as well as Israel to closely consider the Palestinian question.
“There’s going to have to be some soul searching in Israel and the American Jewish community because they’re tough questions,” he said.
Spending a boatload on high holiday service tickets so you can be redeemed for another year? Fair warning: The God redeeming you might just be the guy in the White House who spends his free time between golf sessions selling out the Jewish State. Obviously listening to this president is the only thing about which Jewish Americans should be seriously searching their souls.
