It's a new chapter for the Kabana. The "Strengthen Your Stream" review column I was writing earlier in the year will now be a recurring episode on the podcast. This first new format episode will cover three recent critical darlings: Widow's Bay on Apple TV, Beef on Netflix, and one of the most enjoyable horror movies I've seen in a while, Obsession, which is streaming on Peacock.
There will be a template version of this every time I write a promo for a new episode: I'm aware that many people have problems with the politics of certain streaming services and/or entertainment fare in general. I am also aware that I don't care. This is not for the people who aren't going to be watching any of this stuff.
The critical acclaim for these two streaming series and the movie has been very intense. That's what drew me to Widow's Bay and Beef — I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. Obsession was recommended to me by my daughter, as well as my good friend and partner in thought crime, Stephen Green. Stephen wrote great post about the movie last month.
Anyway, this may end up being a weekly episode. If so, that means I'll be back to recording two episodes a week, which was how we used to party when this all started.
