Another day, another high-ranking Democrat acting like a spoiled toddler in an effort to "get" a Republican. These people are a stain on their families and their nation. History — when it is finally written without bias — will not be kind to them.
Today's snot-bubbling grandstander is Alex Padilla, who is now the senior senator from the once-great state of California. Oddly, he is also the ranking member on the Senate Rules Committee, which makes his behavior all the more pathetic.
Padilla was given the diversity fast track to the Senate after Kamala Harris became Joe Biden's vice president. California had never had a Latino senator before, so he didn't even have to audition for the job. Gov. Whitey Whiterson Newsom couldn't wait to try and get more cred with minority voters and quickly appointed Padilla to fill Harris's seat.
While the dwindling California conservative population no doubt breathed a sigh of relief when they knew Harris would be gone, that relief was short-lived. Something that I have now christened "Kruiser's Law of Democrats" was once again proven to be true. Here it is: Never get excited about getting one Democrat out of office in a blue state because there is always a worse one waiting in the wings.
The modern Democratic party is a bottomless pit of awful people; the deeper you go, the worse they get. Here are just a few recent examples: Kathy Hochul replacing Andrew Cuomo as governor of New York; Brandon Johnson replacing Lori Lightfoot as mayor of Chicago; and, of course, Alex Padilla, who makes Kamala Harris seem like a reasonable human being.
Alex Padilla isn't some rando leftist activist; he's a United States senator. In theory, they are the well-behaved adults in Congress. That idea has been steadily eroding ever since the 17th Amendment was ratified in 1913, but it is still supposed to be true. Thuggish behavior is all the rage in the Democratic Party right now, though, so they all opt for kabuki theater displays of street toughness. Grown-up behavior is so eschewed by the Dems that even the brainier ones — Padilla has a mechanical engineering degree from MIT — prefer to act as if they were raised by wolves.
They act like dirtbags, so I call them dirtbags. However, I also remember that the dirtbags we know are almost certainly better than whatever dirtbags the Democrats would replace them with.
