There has been a lot of rejoicing in conservative circles over the news that cable Death Star Comcast is going to trim some of the fat at NBCUniversal by jettisoning some of its cable properties, most notably MSNBC. My friend Stephen Green examines the ratings freefall at MSNBC and Comcast's move in detail here.
MSNBC has been a ratings wasteland for years. Rachel Maddow was the only relative success at the network, but she went from nightly to part-time a couple of years ago. None of that mattered, however. Whenever friends and colleagues would crow about horrible ratings at the progressive cable outlet, I would walk them through the monolith that is Comcast/NBCUniversal and explain that MSNBC was merely a subsidized vanity project for the media powerhouse.
The commies at MSNBC aren't exactly being sent out into the world alone, but they are having most of their allowance cut off. It'll be interesting to see if there are wholesale programming changes or if the network will be content with being a shell of a shell of itself, barking progressive inanities into the ratings void.

Sadly, this isn't the kick in the groin to horrible media bias that many think it is. The NBC News division isn't getting rid of — you guessed it — the "NBC Nightly News," which has always been the real problem.
Cable news numbers are minuscule compared to the nightly news broadcasts of the Big Three networks. Even in their decline, the Big Three average close to 20 million viewers a night combined, with "NBC Nightly News" accounting for over six million of that total. As we see every time the GOP is stupid enough to agree to debates moderated by hacks from NBC, CBS, and ABC, they're some of the biggest offenders when it comes to carrying water for the Democrats while pretending to be journalists. Lester Holt has always been a bigger cancer in American media than Rachel Maddow ever could be.
Comcast/NBCUniversal may be getting rid of its boutique repository of progressive thought vomit, but the company will continue to be a major player in the leftist misinformation crusade.
I leave you with this glorious clip of Vivek Ramaswamy going off on NBC News's Kristen Welker.
