A Southwest Airlines jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia late Tuesday morning after severe trouble with one engine. One passenger has been confirmed dead.
The following is the conversation between the tower and the cockpit of the damaged plane. While the subject matter is frightening (“Could you have the medical meet us there on the runway as well? We’ve got injured passengers.”), the calm, cool professionalism of both the air traffic controller and the pilot is to be lauded.
