POLIWOOD: Remembering Maurice Jarre, King of Composers

Lionel and I have been trying to avoid the morbidity factor on POLIWOOD, but lately it has been inescapable. First Ron Silver is brought down (far too young) and now Maurice Jarre – arguably the great film composer of his time – has died. At least Jarre lived four score and more years. We remember him and his work here. The only dispute between Lionel and me on this one is which we love more – the music from Zhivago or the music from Lawrence. I guess that depends on your temperament or the moment. Both are obviously great.
