Muslim Crowd in Times Square Boasts: ‘We Are Taking Over New York City!’

The left in America loves Islam: it’s not Christian, it’s not white (at least as far as the left’s caricature goes, but in reality, there are white Muslims the world over), and it’s not American (at least up until recently), and so it is none of the things that leftists hate most.

This has led leftists to behave toward Islam with the utmost loyalty. When patriots call attention to jihad violence, or to political and supremacist statements from Muslim leaders, leftists routinely brush it all aside as “Islamophobia” and “bigotry.” When I testified recently before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government, Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Steven Van Zandt); Mary Gay Scanlon (D-Clueless), and Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Even More Clueless) doggedly insisted in the teeth of mountains of evidence that Sharia is purely private religious law, and that any concern about it is simply bigotry and racism, as well as, of course, “Islamophobia.”

So it must have been a gang of “Islamophobes” who were out in force in Times Square Friday night. One of them, addressing the enthusiastic crowd, cried out “Takbir!” which means roughly, “Proclaim the greatness of Allah,” or more specifically, “Say ‘Allahu akbar.’”

When the crowd then dutifully breaks out with a lusty cry of the Islamic war chant, the speaker responds sarcastically: “Oh, don’t scare them, brothers! Relax! They’re over here on purpose to be like, ‘Oh my God!’ Who’s seen those videos where they’re like, ‘Oh my God, the Muslims are taking over New York City!’ Seen those? You seen those? Let them know that we are taking over New York City! Takbir!” And the crowd responds even more enthusiastically than before with a hearty “Allahu akbar.”

That bit about scaring the unbelievers is reminiscent of the fact that 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta reminded himself to “shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.” The idea that this New York crowd might be positively tickled pink at the prospect of terrifying unbelievers is bad enough, but even worse is the open avowal of imminent takeover. The Democrats solemnly assure us to this day that such an idea is absurd, a product of all kinds of wrongthink. And yet there it was, big as life in Times Square on Friday evening.

What would Raskin, Scanlon, Cohen and their comrades say to that? They’d likely dismiss the Times Square gathering as a “tiny minority of extremists,” if they were cornered into having to make any comment at all, and would double down on the Democrat dogma that any assertion that Islam is political and supremacist is ipso facto “Islamophobic.”

But is it, really? The Muslim Brotherhood, even as it has drastically increased its influence and activities in the United States over the past two decades, has been dedicated in its own words, according to a captured internal document, to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within, and sabotaging its miserable house, so that it falls, and Allah’s religion reigns supreme over other religions.”

And in Aug. 2024, Nihad Awad, the executive director of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), detailed a strategy for gaining political power: “If we commit to do this, four years from now, the Muslim community will have 4,000 new journalists, we will have 4,000 filmmakers, 4,000 lawyers, 4,000 students of political science, 4,000 students of history. The next year we will have another 4,000. Fifteen years from now, the Muslim community will have 50,000, an army of these people. They will design our image, they will protect the truth and the news, most likely many of these people will run for public office and they will become lawmakers…We can have, in ten years, at least 40-50 members of Congress, in the U.S. Congress.”

That captured internal document of the Muslim Brotherhood lists CAIR as one of its allied organizations.

There are numerous other indications of the fact that some Muslims in the U.S. are quite serious about taking over. Back in Dec. 2025, a young Somali Muslim in the U.S. made a video. Holding a large photo of Trump, the young man said: “My biggest fear in life is that this man may never witness our full takeover. Yes, he may never wi— witness that. He already witnessed our partial takeover, our little success, in America…. So. He’s old and sick, I know, he may not witness our full takeover. But I promise you that his sons will witness.”

Maybe. But whether they will or won’t, there is enough such talk in the U.S. to warrant serious scrutiny, and not the contemptuous dismissal these issues always get from the left. One might almost get the idea that they want the strife this takeover effort will inevitably cause.
