Financial Disclosure by UN Officials Is a Joke

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon grandly announced a new era of transparency upon taking office. And so the UN web site has finally begun posting the financial disclosure statements of its top officials. Sounds great, says Claudia Rosett, except for a few small problems: most officials weren’t willing to voluntarily disclose anything – and those who did so provided no real information.
