While on CBS’ This Morning, Jimmy Kimmel acknowledged that “three years ago I was equally liked by Republicans and Democrats, and then the Republican numbers went way down, like 30 percent or whatever.” This could very well be because of the controversial things he’s been saying on his eponymous late-night comedy show lately. He castigated a Republican senator for trying to get the government out of your healthcare decisions, and he keeps blasting gun owners. Speaking of this divide amongst his audience, and his ratings drop among right-wingers, he admitted that “as a talk show host, that’s not ideal.”
But he wasn’t exactly apologetic, saying, “I would do it again in a heartbeat.” And, “I probably wouldn’t want to have a conversation with them anyway.”
Another late-night host, Seth Meyers, recently flipped off Trump supporters, telling them to “go away.” Jimmy Kimmel, who was once a relatively less-biased talk show star, seems to have gone the Meyers route. Will any Republicans still be watching Kimmel now?
