The New York Times‘ chief White House correspondent, Glenn Thrush (who has been parodied on Saturday Night Live), said that he actually thinks Trump has been handing the press more justly than Obama did. He describes President Obama’s White House as having been very selective and dismissive when it came to press conferences. Thrush said, “I think Trump’s free-ranging press conferences are a lot more democratic than the way that Obama conducted them.” He really punched a hole in liberal doctrine, and said, “I think we can’t fall into this trap of hawking back to the Obama era as if it was this golden age.”
