CNN’s media watchdog show, “Reliable Sources,” had BuzzFeed’s editor-in-chief on the program to discuss why he published an unverified dossier and chose not to redact proven-false information. Even Brian Stelter, the ultra-liberal host of the show, was angry at BuzzFeed for lowering journalistic standards, saying there’s a difference between publishing a story and reporting on a story. He also asked point blank, “Were you trying to just get clicks?” When your co-conspirator is saying you did a shoddy job, you must have really done horribly. BuzzFeed’s editors should never have acted so rashly and click-bait oriented if they want their site to be considered a real news outlet.
