George H.W. Bush in ICU.
Last night, former President George H.W. Bush was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Houston Methodist Hospital, two days after the funeral of his wife, former first lady Barbara Bush. CNN reports:
“President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement.
Bush, 93, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning with an infection that led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening, according to a source close to the former Republican President. He was in critical condition, the source said.
The source added that Bush’s blood pressure kept dropping and a couple of times there was serious concern about whether he was going to come through, but that he had been stabilized.
Years ago, Bush revealed that he suffers from a form of Parkinson’s disease, which has left him unable to walk. On the day after his wife’s death, the former president expressed his firm belief that she is in heaven.
“I always knew Barbara was the most beloved woman in the world, and in fact I used to tease her that I had a complex relationship about that fact. But the truth is the outpouring of love and friendship being directed at The Enforcer is lifting us all up,” he said, using her nickname. “We have faith she is in heaven, and we know that life will go on — as she would have it. So cross the Bushes off your worry list.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the former president. The Bush family already lost one member this month, here’s hoping they don’t lose another one, too.
Kanye West makes leftists lose their minds.
Rapper Kanye West sent lefties into a tailspin by agreeing with a black conservative commentator, by telling a radio host that he loves President Donald Trump, and by retweeting videos from “Dilbert” creator Scott Adams.
The story began on Friday, when Candace Owens addressed a crowd organized by Turning Point USA. Black Lives Matter activists interrupted her, and she responded with a powerful denunciation of the “victim mentality”:
There is an ideological civil war happening: Black people that are focused on their past and shouting about slavery and black people that are focused on their futures, OK? That’s really what it comes down to, OK?
I can guarantee what you’re seeing happening is victim mentality versus victor mentality … Victim mentality is not cool. I don’t know why people like being oppressed. It’s the weirdest thing I ever heard: “I love oppression. We’re oppressed. 400 years of slavery, Jim Crow.” Which, by the way, none of you guys lived through. Your grandparents did.
And it’s embarrassing that you utilize their history, you utilize their history and you come in here with more emotion than they ever had when they were living through it. You’re not living through anything right now. You’re overly privileged Americans.
Kanye West, who expressed support for Trump in December 2016 but then relinquished that support last February, tweeted support for Owens: “I love the way Candace Owens thinks.”

On Monday, West reportedly told radio host Ebro Darden that he loves Trump, and he went on to attack what he suggested was the backwards-thinking of Black Lives Matter.

Around the same time, West shared videos of “Dilbert” creator Scott Adams praising him for cheering on Candace Owens. Adams said West had “ripped a hole in reality” with the tweet, shattering “mental prisons.”
BuzzFeed called Adams “a Trump-loving men’s rights activist.”

As PJ Media’s own Deb Heine pointed out well yesterday, BuzzFeed’s Ryan Broderick called Adams a “men’s rights activist,” citing as evidence an article in which Adams attacked men’s rights activists, saying, “Get over it, you bunch of p**sies.”
“The Young Turks” host Cenk Uygur called West “Trump’s black twin – an empty celebrity who is dumb, narcissistic and shameless.”

I’ve never been a big fan of Kanye West, but his support for Owens is indeed remarkable.
Pompeo onward!
After a day of speculation that current CIA Director Mike Pompeo, whom Trump nominated to become secretary of State, would not make it through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) put that speculation to rest.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) switched his “no” vote to support for CIA Director Mike Pompeo as the next secretary of State, giving President Trump’s pick just enough backers to eke out confirmation.
Paul said he had been planning to vote against Pompeo, prompting an offensive from the White House to change his mind and Trump declaring Paul had never let him down.
“I just finished speaking to President Trump, after speaking to him several times today. I also met with and spoke to Director Pompeo,” Paul said in a statement before today’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote. “After calling continuously for weeks for Director Pompeo to support President Trump’s belief that the Iraq war was a mistake, and that it is time to leave Afghanistan, today I received confirmation that Director Pompeo agrees with President Trump.”
Even Democrat senators like Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said they would vote for Pompeo, virtually guaranteeing his place as secretary of State.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Pompeo’s confirmation would present Democrats an opportunity “to decide whether they love this country more than they hate this president. … And they have to decide that they want to put the safety and the security and the diplomacy of our country ahead of their own political games. And we’re very hopeful that they will.”
Toronto van attack.
Ten people died and 15 were injured in a van attack Monday in Toronto, Canada. The suspected driver, Alek Minassian, was arrested shortly after the attack. He apparently exited the vehicle with a gun, but was apprehended without firing a shot.

Minassian appears to have been yet another “known wolf,” being known to authorities as a potential threat before the attack. Authorities said the attack did not “appear” to be terror-related.
