Newsweek: Greta Thunberg 'Snubbed' for Nobel Because Norway Has Oil

To the chagrin of media hacks the world over, climate hoax brat Greta Thunberg did not win the Nobel Peace Prize that they insisted she should win. Newsweek emerged from the media wailing about Thunberg not winning with the dumbest take of all: blame Big Oil:

One of those countries is the nation that effectively decides who wins the Nobel Peace Prize each year—Norway, where the five members selected to serve on the committee are chosen by the Norwegian parliament. The country has a complex relationship with greenhouse gas-emitting fossil fuels, which historically have been (and arguably continues to be) a major source of Norway’s wealth.

“Norway has benefitted from oil and gas production in multiple ways, but primarily from the security and economic advantages they have derived from exporting energy to other parts of the world,” Michael Webber, Josey Centennial Professor in Energy Resources at the University of Texas at Austin and Chief Science & Technology Officer at ENGIE, told Newsweek.

OK, they don’t specifically say that is why Thunberg didn’t win, but they opened the gate for a lot of inference to get in, especially once the article’s headline is taken into account:

That the media believes she was deserving is all you need to know to understand why journalism is dying. These are the same clowns who truly believed that Barack Obama deserved the 2009 Nobel he was awarded “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

The Lightbringer had been in office for less than nine months and had achieved virtually nothing in the area of diplomacy.

Most of the Newsweek article is an in-depth look at Norway’s relationship with oil that proves nothing at all. Few people are unaware that Norway is oil-rich. They really just wanted to get their feelings out in the headline and decided to throw in a bunch of “news” that everybody already new to make it look like a real article.

The Nobel committee cleaned off much of the 2009 egg that was left on its face with this decision.

The media will just have to continue grappling with its ever-dwindling influence.

Meanwhile, the world is a slightly better place now that the insufferable Swedish truant was denied another participation trophy.
