More from The Hill:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Friday called for the House to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

Warren, who is running for president, issued the call one day after the release of special counsel Robert Mueller‘s report on his investigation into the 2016 election and Trump campaign.

“The severity of this misconduct demands that elected officials in both parties set aside political considerations and do their constitutional duty. That means the House should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States,” Warren tweeted.

You read that correctly. Based on a report that concluded exactly none of the things that Democrats spent eighteen months fervently wishing it would, Fauxcahontas thinks impeachment is the next logical step.

Since the release of Mueller’s report on Thursday, Democrats have been desperately trying to make their dreams come true by pretending that there is some magical subtext in it that confirms their Trump Derangement Syndrome feelings.

Recapping reality:

  1. No collusion
  2. No obstruction

IMPEACH!

As has been noted often, Democrats running for president are going to have to constantly work to distinguish themselves in the field of 7,967 candidates. The Warren camp no doubt knew this would get her a headline or two on Good Friday.

Impeachment may be the centerpiece of Sen. Warren’s fever dream, but her Democratic colleagues in the House aren’t that eager to rush in and help her here:

But it’s still not enough to pull the trigger on the most consequential — and politically risky — action Democrats could take in their new majority: trying to forcibly eject Trump from office.

“Election time is when you beat Trump,” said Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), a senior member of the party’s progressive wing who was an early supporter of impeachment efforts in the previous Congress.

When you’ve lost Raúl Grijalva…

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly said that impeachment is a bad idea, and the man who ranks just behind her is on the same page:

“Based on what we have seen to date, going forward on impeachment is not worthwhile at this point,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the No. 2 Democrat, told CNN. “Very frankly, there is an election in 18 months, and the American people will make a judgment.”

I’ve maintained since election night last year that constant impeachment threats or impeachment proceedings will backfire on the Democrats and help the president.

Warren’s House colleagues seem to grasp that, even if they won’t state it precisely that way.

Warren, on the other hand, remains eternally clueless.
