Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez never read Dale Carnegie’s best seller, “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” If she had, she would know that she’s violating some of the cardinal tenets listed in the book.
- The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.
- Show respect for the other person’s opinions. Never say, “You’re wrong.”
- If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
The Squad member blew up the internet yesterday, sending out a tweet that severely criticized her own party for being sensible and cautious. She thinks Democrats are causing a “bigger national scandal” than Trump because they’re not impeaching the president.
At this point, the bigger national scandal isn’t the president’s lawbreaking behavior – it is the Democratic Party’s refusal to impeach him for it.

AOC replied to liberal columnist James Fallows, who said a bigger problem was the GOP Senate:
It is one thing for a sitting president to break the law. It’s another to let him.
The integrity of our democracy isn’t threatened when a president breaks the law. It‘s threatened when we do nothing about it.
The GOP’s silence & refusal to act shouldn’t be a surprise. Ours is.

The crazies are far too overanxious. Impeachment is coming, have no fear. The problem is coming up with plausible grounds for removing Trump.
Collusion? Nope, that dog won’t hunt. Obstruction of justice? Possible, but how to make it believable instead of just a partisan hope and a prayer? Remember, they have to have evidence — of which, they have none, nil, nothing, nada. They might just make stuff up and put it in an article of impeachment, but who would it convince?
Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow partisan hysterics want blood. They want to set up a guillotine on the National Mall for Trump and anyone who supports him — not to mention “racists,” “climate change deniers,” and people who make fun of her for being a bartender in the past.
It’s an Old Testament reckoning they seek, not justice. And Speaker Pelosi will have none of it.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has declined to support calls for impeachment proceedings against the president, who last week came under increased scrutiny over a whistleblower complaint said to focus on a conversation between Trump and another world leader during a phone call. Trump reportedly pressured Ukraine’s president to open an investigation into Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden in that call.
The intelligence community’s inspector general declined last week to share details of the whistleblower’s complaint during a closed-door meeting with the House Intelligence Committee.
Does this mean that AOC and Pelosi are no longer BFFs?
It’s not entirely clear if Ocasio-Cortez was targeting Pelosi specifically or launching a widespread offensive against the leaders of her own party, but what was clear was that Ocasio-Cortez made other Democrats very angry by suggesting that their behavior was worse than Trump’s.
No, not a way to “win friends and influence people.”
For her part, Pelosi would like nothing better than to see Trump hanging from a white oak tree. But goofs like AOC and other Squad members whose appalling ignorance about the law and what rises to the level of impeachment makes her job that much tougher:
“Impeachment is a very divisive measure,” Pelosi said, “but if we have to go there, we have to go there and we can’t go there unless we have the facts. And we’ll follow the facts and follow the obstruction the president is making and make a decision when we’re ready.”
Except there are no “facts.” There is wild, unsubstantiated speculation. There are fantasies. There’s a Democratic wish list of charges.
All they lack to impeach Trump are facts. And no temper tantrums by an overgrown teenager will make a bit of difference.
