Joe Morrissey won a state Senate seat in the 16th district on Tuesday with 64 percent of the vote against Independent Waylin Ross.

According to WJLA, Morrissey pled guilty to a misdemeanor in 2015 and served six months in jail for his involvement with his underage secretary whom he eventually married. The couple has three children.

“He denied wrongdoing but entered an Alford plea to a misdemeanor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, acknowledging that prosecutors had enough evidence for a conviction,” WJLA reported.

Morrissey, whose law license was revoked in 2018, launched a campaign for mayor of Richmond in 2016 but was defeated.
